• Replacing batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms
• Ensuring emergency exits are clear and accessible
• Inspecting and maintaining security systems and cameras

Area #4: HVAC/Electrical

Power problems and uncomfortable temperatures can turn people away, but regular HVAC/electrical maintenance can help you identify problems early. Some HVAC and electrical tasks to consider include:

• Testing thermometer settings and adjusting as necessary
• Fixing leaks and plumbing damage
• Inspecting electrical outlets, switches and wiring

Area #5: Specialty Cleaning

Finally, make sure you thoroughly clean areas that don’t get as much attention (or areas that are unique to your religious facility). Here are some examples:

• Deep cleaning carpets and upholstery
• Stripping, waxing and buffing floors
• Restoring and preserving ancient or historic features
• Sanitizing high-tough areas
